Marvel confirms ‘Spider-Man’ Movies are not over

Following the positive reception to the recently released ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has revealed that the studio and Sony are actively producing at least one more film in the ‘Spider-Man’ series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Marvel Studios president said, “I don’t want fans to suffer through any separation anguish like what occurred after ‘Far From Home,'” thus he explicitly confirmed the announcement. The quotes came from an interview with the New York Times published on Friday in which both Feige and Amy Pascal, the producer of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ confirmed that their respective studios are currently inactive talks about where to take the superhero following the events of Tom Holland’s third turn as the famed web-slinger. “Amy and I, as well as Disney and Sony, are discussing — yeah, we’re actively starting to plan where the narrative will go next, which I only mention bluntly because I don’t want fans to experience the same separation anguish that occurred after Far From Home. This time, however, that will not be the case “”The contract for Disney and Sony to co-produce the movies fell through for a small period in 2019,” Feige stated, referring to the brief period in 2019 when the arrangement for Disney and Sony to co-produce the movies fell through. For the uninitiated, it was reported in August 2019 that talks between Sony film studio president Tom Rothman and Feige on the then-untitled third ‘Spider-Man’ picture had gone down, only two months after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The arrangement fell through— and with it, the studios’ ‘Spider-Man’ partnership— purportedly owing to Disney’s demands for a bigger portion of the third film’s earnings, as well as all merchandise money, which Sony declined. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the dispute between Disney and Sony was finally resolved in September 2019, owing in part to Holland himself. Pascal indicated in a recent interview that the finale of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ would be the start of a new story. “At the conclusion of the film we just finished, Spider-Man makes a life-changing choice that you’ve never seen him make before. It’s a price to pay. As a result, we have a lot to work with for the next picture “Pascal said.

Furthermore, for the uninitiated, the Sony producer said in a November interview that three additional films starring Tom Holland were in the works.

“This isn’t the final film we’ll produce with Marvel, and it certainly isn’t the last Spider-Man film. With Tom Holland and Marvel, we’re gearing up to create the next Spider-Man film. We’re thinking of this as three movies, and we’ll move on to the next three immediately. This isn’t the last installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe “Pascal said.
